Well folks...it's true! Your mama is always there for you. So when I put out an "all call" for guest bloggers...the first post I received via email was from none other than my dear mother. Now, she did not title this her "obsessions" piece, but I will tell you...my mom is obsessed with Mary Kay and furthering the ideals of all things women, MK, and pink, of course.
So, y'all be nice to her and do what she says!!!
Hello to Mary’s friends and blog followers,
This is Jennifer, Mary’s mom, although I am not going to blog about Mary and embarrass her. Rather, I want to blog about women, because today is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate women and their accomplishments.
As some of you may know, I work for Mary Kay, Inc. where our mission is to enrich women’s lives. I have been in a woman’s world all my career life. And I agree wholeheartedly with Mary Kay Ash – women are wonderful! They are smart, capable, flexible and responsible. But the quality I want to highlight today is that women are caring. They care about their families; they care about their friends; they care about their communities.
At Mary Kay we are celebrating International Women’s Day by focusing on this caring aspect of women. We have kicked off a Global Month of Service, encouraging our associates around the world to do some kind of volunteer activity during the next month. In fact, we have a big goal – 1 million hours of community service between March 8 and April 8th.
How many times did I hear Mary Kay say, “All we send into the lives of others comes back into our own.” Volunteering is a great way to be blessed. So if you haven’t volunteered in some time, join us in this effort. And if you are a regular volunteer, thank you for the service you give your church, school or your community. It’s easy to be a volunteer. Select an organization you currently volunteer with or have in the past. If you don’t have previous volunteer experience, consider working with a well—established organization. Remember that it doesn’t have to be big or a long-time commitment. You can volunteer to read at a school, visit a nursing home, visit an elderly neighbor.
And if you do join us in our Global Month of Service, you can be counted in our million hours of community service we are encouraging around the word. Just visit www.marykay.com/service
Oh, and if you are male, you can join us, too, and celebrate the women in your life.
